1

RSWT

Radial Shockwave Therapy stimulates the restructuring of superficial tissues over a broad area. Deep tissue dysfunctions treated with FSWT heal more effectively if their surrounding tissues are also freed from old dysfunctional patterns,  which, if not reconditioned, can restrain deeper layers from returning to normalized movement patterns.

2

FSWT

Focused Shockwave Therapy, like all SWTs, causes necessary inflammation, triggered by the body's natural healing systems. This allows the body to provide nutrients to restructure tissues  instead of compensating injury. RSWT helps surrounding tissue adjust to better function. EMTT expedites recovery and keeps inflammation at a healthy level.

3

EMTT

Electromagnetic Transduction Therapy alleviates inflammation and reduces pain. Like SWT, it increases cell wall permeability, allowing exchanges of nutrients and elimination of waste at the cellular level. Highly effective on bone tissue, it aids SWT by also addressing the deeper levels of dysfunction, as well as ensuring inflammation levels stay ideal.

If the radiator in your car was leaking for so long that you blew a head gasket, would you only change your radiator? Would you only replace your head gasket?

the biomechanical system is complex.

& it should be treated as such.

What is Shockwave Therapy? Does it Really Work?

What is Shockwave Therapy? Does it Really Work?

What is Shockwave Therapy and does it really work? Are you struggling with chronic problems such as soft tissue injuries or tendonitis? Have you exhausted all other treatment options? Are you eager to get back to work, hobbies or sports pain free? Then here is why you should consider Shockwave Therapy: Shockwave Therapy is one of the most effective and widely accepted clinical practices for the treatment of chronic soft tissue injuries. Historically Shockwave therapy was a treatment method for breaking down kidney stones and helped people to avoid the painful surgical process. Now it is widely used by Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Podiatrists and other medical professionals to treat different conditions involving tendons, muscle and even bones. Common conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles’ tendonitis, knee pain, tennis elbow, shoulder pain, back pain, shin splints and many more are successfully treated with shockwave. How does it work? Shockwave is a non-invasive technology that delivers sound waves to afflicted areas of the body and aids speedy recovery. The process involves passing short, intense sound waves into affected tissues, which increases blood flow, has an analgesic effect, and stimulates repair and regeneration. The treatment puts the cells into repair mode and allows your body to restart its natural healing process. Shockwave Therapy is approved by NICE and completely safe if performed by qualified therapists. With a success rate of up to 90%, on average 4 to 6 sessions of shockwave therapy can make a huge difference for the patients and help them recover from injuries. However not all shockwave machines are created equal, you need to ensure your practitioner is using a medical CE marked device such as those made by Storz Medical. Shockwave is not as scary as it sounds, in some cases you might feel discomfort at the beginning however, the treatment is delivered with a low amount of energy at first, which is increased as your body gets used to it so, there’s nothing to be worried about. Shockwave Therapy is an ideal alternative to surgery, or when other standard treatments like pain medication and steroid injections no longer work and carry undesirable side effects and risks. There are two types of shockwave therapy, radial and focused. Radial is used to treat superficial conditions closer to the surface of the skin, focused shockwave is used to treat deeper areas of concern and can treat a wider range of conditions. Your therapist will decide which is the best for you depending on your condition. Some therapists will advise a combination approach. Want to know more about Shockwave Therapy? What is the difference between radial & focused shockwave therapy?

This is one of the most common questions Venn Healthcare have from clinicians on shockwave therapy - What is the difference between radial & focused shockwaves? In this video, we will discuss the difference between Radial vs Focus Shockwave Therapy. Did you know Focused and Radial shockwave therapies differ not only regarding their physical properties and mode of generation, but also in terms of the magnitude of the standard parameters such as pressure amplitude, pulse duration, impact used, and the therapeutic tissue penetration depths achieved. The radial pressure wave is the most common type of shockwave therapy, used in most MSK clinics. However, in recent times, due to the increased treatment options, treatment depth, treatment precision, and patient comfort in more acute cases, focused shockwave therapies are growing in popularity. The radial pressure wave is mainly suitable for larger treatment areas of superficial indications, with 3 to 4 cm treatment depth. It has slow impulse and low energy density. In contrast, Focused Shockwaves provides a Smaller focal point for greater accuracy and greater treatment depth of up to 12cm. Its fast impulse and high energy density offer Precise energy delivery to the exact area. Here’s how they both work: The radial shockwave comprises three parts – Ultrasonic pulse, audio acoustic pulse, and the relatively slow shear wave. The pressure waves lose power the deeper they enter the body. Focused shockwaves can penetrate deeper into the tissues and provides all of their power at the designated depth. Focused shockwaves are generated electromagnetically through a cylindrical coil creating opposing magnetic fields when current is applied. Here are their biological effects: Both kinds of therapies, Increase the cell wall permeability, Stimulate Microcirculation, Release the Substance P Neurotransmitter responsible for pain modulation, and are powerful vasodilator, causing considerable hypotension. The Focused shock waves offer extra Cavitation Release of nitric oxide meaning increased cell metabolism, neoangiogenesis, tissue regeneration, and Stimulation of growth factors, all essential for optimal tissue healing. Focused shockwaves have also been shown to aid stem cell proliferation in regenerative medicine. Some Focused shockwave treatments include Acute injuries in elite athletes, Knee & Joint arthritis, Bone and Stress Fractures, Erectile dysfunction, Shin Splints, Osteitis Pubis -Groin Pain, Insertional Achilles Pain, and many more. A combination of focused and radial shockwaves has also proven to be effective and has shown outstanding results in the patients.
