Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is the utilization of controlled force to mobilize joints and realign dysfunctional joints. Dr. Koenke performs chiropractic adjustments when necessary, after performing a thorough assessment. He may utilize other techniques and tools during your visit, depending on what will get you the best results. He may also recommend massage therapy or TECAR therapy for you to use in conjunction with adjustments, as we understand the body as a whole group of systems that work together and are intimately intertwined. Sometimes we need to affect more than one system in order to get lasting results for our patients. Dr. Koenke's expertise is not limited to the skeletal system, and you can be assured that he will comprehensively assess your needs and desired outcomes and perform or recommend care based on decades of experience with chiropractic care, soft tissue manipulation, exercise, and sports therapies.

MANUAL THERAPY

Manual therapy is the utilization of the latest technology to restore the functionality of your soft tissues. It is important for restoring or retaining a healthy quality of the soft tissues in the body, which is related to healthy mobility of the joints. Sometimes joint dysfunction is caused by skeletal system disorders or pathologies regardless of surrounding tissues, but often it is exacerbated by -- or even caused by -- some soft tissue imbalances or dysfunctions. If Dr. Koenke finds that a soft tissue imbalance is causing or aggravating an issue in a joint, he will perform some manual therapy to ensure the effects of an adjustment keep hold for longer, rather than reverting back to the dysfunctional state due to pressure from soft tissues. Relatedly, sometimes joints will not want to adjust until surrounding tissues are warmed up to it. For some patients, manual therapy will be performed before an adjustment to ensure proper movement. In other patients, it may be performed after an adjustment to relax and loosen up the surrounding soft tissues to the change in order to keep all the moving systems "on the same page" and better able to work together toward the patient's goals. Dr. Koenke may use a variety of tools and technology in addition to his hands in order to get the best results. This includes Radial Pressure Therapy (RPT), laser therapy, and Graston Technique®.

EXTREMETIES

Some people might think of chiropractic adjustments only as spinal adjustments. Dr. Koenke also works on shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, and feet. Sometimes discomfort and dysfunction in the extremities can be caused by some dysfunction in the spine, but Dr. Koenke adjusts whatever joint needs it, as joints in the spine are not the only joints that can "step out of line" sometimes. We can work on the entire body, and we will also find what patterns in the body are exacerbating issues. Sometimes an adjustment in an extremity is needed, but we will also address the body as a whole to see what can help prevent further imbalances, future joint dysfunction, and future injury. We always look comprehensively at the body systems to set our patients up for flourish into the future.

MASSAGE THERAPY

Massage therapy is a manual therapy that utilizes controlled force to increase healing processes and release tight muscles. Like manual therapy performed before or after adjustments, it is done to affect soft tissues in the body. In our office, massage therapy sessions are offered in 60 minute or 90 minute durations and the client is on a table in a private room with one of our expert massage therapists. The client is welcomed to disrobe to their comfort level and will be covered by a sheet and blanket, aside from whatever body part is being worked on at the time. The environment is comfortable and dimly lit, with soft music. A relaxing environment allows the massage therapist to not only warm up and release tension in the musculoskeletal system, but also ease the client into a relaxed state where their nervous system can rest. A massage therapy session helps enhance healing in the body by also communicating with the nervous system, the lymphatic system, and the circulatory system. It's a way to affect all of the moving pieces together, guiding the body into healthier function as a whole. The more systems in the body that we can communicate with, the better the whole system can work together to keep lasting results. Our massages can also be combined with TECAR therapy, right there on the table. One of our TECAR-trained massage therapists will use TECAR on localized areas when necessary, moving seamlessly between TECAR and massage, providing the client with our most comprehensive care.

TECAR Therapy

TECAR therapy is the introduction of specific energetic frequencies into the tissues of the body. It can relieve discomfort while promoting intra- and extra-cellular exchanges deep in the tissues. It creates an environment at the cellular level that makes it much easier for the body to perform its natural ability to heal itself. It's relatively new to the general public and physiotherapy specialists in the United States, but it has over 125 years of research and use, primarily in Europe and on professional athletes. It is a safe, comfortable, evidence-based way to effectively promote natural healing in tissues. You can find more info from our webpage or from WINBACK using the links below.

Shockwave therapy

Shockwave Therapy (SWT) is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy acoustic waves to promote healing and reduce pain. It's effective for conditions such as musculoskeletal disorders and spasticity. We offer both Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT), which spreads energy over a broader area for surface-level conditions, and Focused Shockwave Therapy (FSWT), which targets deep tissues for chronic pain and injuries. SWT enhances blood flow, stimulates cell repair, and modulates inflammation, providing a powerful solution for various therapeutic needs.

E.M.T.T.

Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy (EMTT) is a non-invasive treatment designed to address common musculoskeletal disorders such as back pain, osteoarthritis, and sports injuries that significantly impact daily life. It differentiates itself from other magnetic therapies through its higher oscillation frequency and stronger magnetic field, which are believed to enhance the body's natural healing processes, helping patients regain mobility and improve their quality of life.

REHABILITATION

Rehabilitation is the utilization of exercises to increase the muscle's and joint's ability to handle stress. Sometimes the cause of a dysfunction in a joint purely skeletal (e.g. structural scoliosis from birth, arthritis, gout, etc.); sometimes it is caused by hypertonic or shortened muscles associated with the joint's function; and sometimes it is caused by weakened muscles that affect the joint. Most times, the dysfunctions or symptoms caused by the dysfunctions are related to two or three of these scenarios – if a joint can't function properly, some muscles will become hypertonic and some will become weakened in order to compensate for mobility. Sometimes a muscular tension imbalance will cause joint dysfunction. Rehabilitation can be necessary to strengthen weakened muscles and allow for more balanced movement in joints. In our office, you. may receive some rehabilitation exercises from Dr. Koenke or one of our chiropractic assistants to ensure your body is strong enough in the right places to handle the stress that's applied to the body daily and keep joints moving as healthily and as balanced as possible.
